So much so, that I haven't stopped singing since.įrom the second the curtain rises, you're drawn in. And you MUST see this show if you can - it is unlike anything I have ever seen and I fell back in love with the story, characters and music all over again. I was lucky enough to be invited down to the glorious Lyceum Theatre in London's West End to see The Lion King ahead of the production coming to Birmingham, as well as taking a look behind the scenes at the incredible costumes, sets and props used in this stellar show.Īll I can say is Birmingham is in for a real treat. Whether it was the colourful animals and catchy songs I knew from my favourite Disney film at eight-years-old, the amazing costumes and sets at 21-years-old, or now, at 30, the real effort, craft, skill and love that goes into creating this wonderful piece of theatre. It's a show I have been lucky enough to see three times - and each time I fall in love with a new aspect. I was so excited when I heard next summer's big theatre production at Birmingham Hippodrome would be The Lion King.
